Eden City
Planet Eden
April 17, 2058

The chiming of his doorbell didn’t surprise him, as he already saw from his window as to who his visitor was. With a sigh he walked towards the door of his nearly empty apartment and opened it, and faced his caller.

The woman faced him was a sorrowful look in her beautiful green eyes, as if he could see them behind the dark sunglasses she wore over them. The woman hid underneath the hood of her black rain cloak, even though the sun on Eden was high and the day was fine.

He knew she wore it for security reasons – her identity and celebrity was public knowledge and property, and the circumstance of her seeing him could prove scandalous for her. That she even attempted to come to his place – his place – angered him. He didn’t want to destroy her life, and decided to walk away. But she came to him.

“Hello,“ she started, but the man interrupted her by opening the door wide. He stepped back, to allow her to come inside. The woman stopped, looking unsure if she should come in.

He looked over to her companion, a tall middle-aged man in an impeccable dark blue business suit, eyes covered in dark shades darting left and right to check the security of the situation. The security officer nodded cordially at him, seemingly leaving the trust to protect his principal to him for the moment, and faced away from him and the woman. She took this as permission to enter the apartment, and did so silently.

He closed the door, and for a few moments, silence pervaded in the lonely apartment, until the woman found the courage to speak first.

“So you’re really leaving,” she said, facing away from him.

He stood there, watching her, seeing her looking at the four traveling bags he had already packed with all of his personal belongings, and placed in the center of bare living room. He walked towards them, and played with one of the bag’s slings with his fingers. “Yes, finally. I got the message you sent me. The assistance you gave me was really valuable. Once more, I am in your debt.”

She turned towards him, and slid the hood off his head, revealing the luscious mass of dark-brown hair. She took of her glasses, and stared at him straight in the eye. “It is not a debt for you to pay. I did it because I wanted to help. I did it so I could be sure you would be alright.”

“And I am. The contact you gave me will help me settle in easily.”

“But you will be leaving me…” she whispered almost imperceptibly, as if denying the reality of her words.

He hung his head low. “What can I do? I can’t be seen with you. We can’t be together. There’s too many things to risk.”

“Is that all?” she replied sharply, in the voice of aristocracy she born into. “If that’s all than I shall divorce my husband and renounce my claim,” she announced forcefully.

His face contorted in anger. “Would you? Would you risk the scandal? Would you risk the trust the people of New Britannia gave you? Don’t be foolish. I’m leaving because of a lot of things, not just that.” He raised his head proudly. “I’m going because I need to,” he exhaled and calmed himself. “I need to find myself.”

“But do you have to go away?” she asked defiantly. “Why can’t you stay? Why do you have to go to the ends of the universe just to realize that you’re really worth something?”

He pointed a finger at the window. “Because out there is where I will find myself.”

She looked away, holding back tears. She stood up, and looked at the window. “Do you remember the first time we met?”

He nodded. “Of course. How can I ever forget?”

She nodded back. “It was at the Hilton on Riviera 15, during the French Festival, six years ago.” She looked at him, the anger fading away, revealing a sad smile that melted his heart. “There you were, a new graduate of Academy, a newly minted lieutenant, ready and itching to fly and fight, and I was a spoiled aristocrat, having just been betrothed to my husband.”

“I was tired and depressed then, pressured into this life I never really wanted, while you were full of hope and promise. You came to me, feeling all gallant in your commoner way, trying to cheer me up and be of service.”

“I couldn’t help being attracted to you. You were so fresh and new.”

“And I couldn’t help not falling for you,” he replied. “You were so beautiful, yet fragile and sad. Deep inside I knew I wanted to help you.”

She smiled that sad smile again, as if trying to say the same thing back to him. “And you did help me. Not only were you kind and made me feel comfortable, you saved me from that assassin. How could I ever forget what you did for me?”

“I only did it because I wanted too,” he said, echoing her.

She rushed to him, embracing him with all the love she could give, she could spare. “And that’s why I want to leave this place as well, and go with you. I have to be with you.”

He felt his heart ache in sadness and kissed her hair. “There’s nothing more I wish for, but for me, wishes are not something I can have.”

He pushed her gently away. “You have citizens who look up to you, as much as I look up and love you. You cannot turn your back on them. We both have responsibilities we have to face. You have to be strong for us, as much as I will try to be strong when I leave.”

“But I may never see you again…” she sobbed.

He took her in his arms again. “That’s the life we live. We may never be together again, but deep inside you have to know that you’re in my heart, and that will never change. When I’ll be in the deep of space, I will remember you, and that will make me live on.”

“I hope you will live on for me as well.”

She nodded, burying her face in his chest. He held her silently, leaving the silence to slow down time, praying to the heavens to let this time run forever.

But time could not listen to his wish, which he could never have.

A knock on the door interrupted them. “Lady Winter, I’m sorry to disturb you, but we really have to go,” the security man said from the other side.

She pushed away slowly then took a step back. He watched silently as she put the hood and glasses back on and stepped towards the door. He opened it, and she started to walk thru, stopping in the middle.

“I will never forget you, Major Phelan Kell.”

Phelan bowed reverently. “Nor would I, Princess Magdalena of Windsor.”

Fold Point
Inbound Macross 27 Colony Fleet
Capricorn Sector
March 20, 2059

It's long long good-bye...

Sayonara sayonara nando datte
Jibun ni mujou ni iikikasete
Te o furu no wa yasashisa da yo ne?
Ima tsuyosa ga hoshii

Phelan opened his eyes, his head still spinning as the aftereffects of space fold hit him directly. He squinted several times, as his vision returned after being disoriented by the short jump. A blurry image came to his mind, which slowly cleared, showing the darkness of space framed with start, and the cluster of colony ships in the short distance.

A strange melody was playing on his earpiece, and it took a second before Phelan realized what it was – it was a song, a somber melody full of sadness and love.

Anata ni deai, STAR kagayaite, atashi ga umarete
Aisureba koso, ai areba koso
Kibou no nai, kiseki o matte, dou naru no?
Namida ni nijimu, hoshi no matataki wa gone…

Phelan reached out to his control panel, and toggled some switches. He was using his rangefinder to track radio waves from the colony fleet, using it as a beacon to guide his fighter back to the fleet once the fold was complete.

He seemed to have picked up an FM station, which currently playing Diamond Crevasse, one of the new singles released by Sheryl Nome, a pop star from the Macross Galaxy Fleet, whose album was making waves here in Macross 27. He had listened to it quite a lot – as many times as probably the music of his principal protectee, which he left in the hands of the Mayor’s Civil Defense SPO when he went out on this escort mission.

He wasn’t sure that she would be happy to hear the he was listening to Sheryl’s music – albeit unintentionally, but Phelan didn’t really care. He had no control over the music on the airwaves, if he happened to hear it.

The beeping of his comlink attracted Phelan’s attention, and the variable fighter pilot toggled it on. The face of Veronica Hathaway, Macross 27’s CIC came to view.

“Platinum One, this M27 control. Do you read me, over?” Veronica said over the comnet.

“M27, this is Platinum One. I copy over,” Phelan replied. “Reading you loud and clear. I’ve just completed my fold. Is the rest of wing with me?”

“Confirmed, Platinum One. I have the Tempest on my sensors, forty degrees to your starboard, distance twenty, with Sprite One flying escort.”

Phelan looked to his right, and found the Starmule transport shuttle he was escorting from the jump point flying in formation. Sprite 01 – Kali’s white Quedlunn-Rau, was covering its starboard side. “I guess we’re all here, M27.”

Veronica smiled. “Roger that, Platinum One. How are things over at M15?”

“The usual stuff, Ronnie – I really don’t like there. We’re a lot quieter in these parts,” Phelan chuckled. “How are things with my squad?”

“I’ve got Platinum Three and Four running patrols on sector twelve right now. They’re probably on ingress. Not much action for them with their leader away from port.”

Phelan smiled. “I guess I gotta get back then. Probably a stack of paperwork for me.” The black haired pilot banked his Excalibur towards the Macross 27 Colony Fleet. “Give me an approach vector to the carrier, M27. We’re coming in for a landing.”

“Roger that, Platinum One and welcome home.”

Macross 27 Colony Fleet Thread Empty
PostSubject: Re: Macross 27 Colony Fleet Thread   Macross 27 Colony Fleet Thread EmptyFri 20 Jun 2008, 11:48 am

"M-5, M-6..."

Phelan listened quietly as Veronica counted off on the row of seats, with Kali in tow. The stadium was getting packed, filling up with fans the came to see Macross-27's resident pop-idol perform live for them. There was a spirit of excitement in the multitude of people inside the stadium, anxious anticipation of watching a great show, and venerating their top star in her full grandeur. As expected from a sold out show of Celestine Winters.

Music of her songs were blaring on the many loudspeakers that flanked the arena, and holographic images of Celestine in performances or advertising posters floated in the air, like ghosts who came to enthrall the masses who came to see her wow them with her dazzling performance.

But Phelan wasn't feeling at all excited. He had been somewhat involved in a minimal capacity with this concert, and the participation was eating up on his time working with his semi-military squadron, the Platinum Force. Being a squadron commander was tough enough, but the assignment given to him by the Mayor, who by all intents and purposes was Phelan's direct boss, was really getting to his nerve.

For in all her infinite wisdom, the Mayor decided to assign Phelan as a military liaison to Celestine Winters. As Macross-27's pop-idol, Celestine was usually involved in public relations duties catering to entertaining the troops, and her shows for the New UN Spacy were big rallying and morale boosters for the men and women in uniform. Wanting to help her do her duty to entertain the troops, the Mayor suggested that Phelan, as elite commander of the primary defense squadron for City-27, to be assigned to see Celestine around - what can be more successful a public relations stunt than the beautiful songstress being escorted by a certified, and dashing war hero?

Not that Phelan was feeling heroic. His time in the war was long past, and he did leave Eden for this colony fleet to get away from it all. But now he was being pushed into the limelight, and he felt uncomfortable.

Added to that fact was Celestine Winters herself. She was a nice person all around for Phelan's taste, except that she was a pain in his neck. Specially when he was around. It felt to Phelan that Celestine was trying to get him into all kinds of trouble - trouble he couldn't afford. So these days Phelan was always looking for a way to get away from her, thus accepting the trip to Macross Frontier which he just came back from. He was expecting sometime to rest when he got back, but was surprised to see the concert tickets waiting in his flat.

Phelan immediately wanted to throw the tickets in the garbage bin, had not Kali dropped by for her report, and saw the tickets.

"Wow, you got tickets to Celestine's concert? I always wanted to see her perform. Can we go? I know Ronnie would like too as well..."

Phelan, ever the sucker, and wise enough never to piss off a Meltrandi, reluctantly agreed.

So here he was, navigating thru the mass of loud Celestine fans, looking for their seats. On a normal occassion, one would be proud to be in a concert, accompanied by two good looking (albeit military) women, getting complimentary seats because he was a good friend with a equally good-looking pop-idol, but that guys wasn't Phelan.

"Here we go," Phelan heard Veronica. "M-7 to M-9. Nice seats Celestine left you." The Macross Trinity CIC took her seat on one end, while the blue haired Kali sat in the other, leaving the middle seat to Phelan. He could see the two women share a look, and he couldn't stop a sigh of submission escape his breath. Surrendering to his fate, Phelan sat down on the middle seat.

It started all at once, with Veronica's first blow. "I think your girlfriend would really love it that you came all the way from a mission to see her concert."

Phelan gnashed his teeth. "First of all, Winters is NOT MY GIRLFRIEND, Ronnie!" Eversince he met her, Phelan has never called Celestine with her first name, by principle. She was always "Ms. Winters" or "Winters". "And second, I wouldn't have been here hadn't Kali unluckily saw the damn tickets."

Kali nodded. "And these damn tickets really gives us great seats. Wouldn't have been better if we got backstage passes. Closer to the action. And that hunky male dancer Dave that Celestine has in her troupe." The Meltrandi winked at Ronnie and grinned at Phelan. "Think you can call her up and swings us a couple of passes?"

"No way," Phelan shook his head. "I just came back from a spacefold trip and tired. The last thing I wanna be is anywhere near Winters. It's bad enough that you've dragged me here."

But Kali wasn't giving in. "Hey, I was in the trip with you as well, and I'm feeling great."

"But you're Meltrandi, Kali..."

"Hush," Veronica shushed the two, as a roar erupted in the crowd. "Looks like the show's about to start."

She closed her eyes and let the darkness engulfed her. She breathed in slowly, calming her body in each breath. She could hear the wild cheers of the people in the arena, chanting her name over and over again.

She gripped her glittering blue mic in her right hand tightly, as if not to let it go. Her other free hand ran through her long flowing blue hair that was neatly tied in a ponytail. She gave one last deep breath as she heard the techno music starting. Her feet instinctively tapping with the beat as if to get herself into the groove.

White smoke crawled low on the floor slowly engulfing the stage, announcing the presence of the Celestial Diva. Colorful rays of blue glistened and twinkled around them, decorating the massive stage.

She started her intro with a seductive voice chanting, “kyuun kyuun kyuun kyuun”

The beat has started to play faster, the tempo was getting more excited as she began her performance.

“kyuun kyuun kyuun kyuun
watashi no kare wa PAIROTTO”

She opened her eyes, the pair of clear blue orbs twinkled like stars in space. She swayed her body with the beat of the music. Her outfit flowed in the air lovingly with her body’s movements. She was wearing a blue sleeveless top that hanged above her belly, decorated with frills that matched her short skirt. Her platform boots tapped perfectly unto the stage as she did her dance.

“KIRARI hikatte kyuukouka
GOOtto fukashite kyuujyoushou
nagaku o ohiku hikokikumode
ookina HAATO ga kasanete futatsu
aoi aosora RABUSAIN”

The crowd roared in excitement along with Celestine’s lively singing. Cheering her name as it echoes in the compact room. Celestine swayed and danced as the audience craved for more.

“I love you, you love me?
dakedo karettara watashi yori
jibun no higokini onetsunano
kyuun kyuun kyuun kyuun
watashi no kare wa PAIROTTO”

She flipped her hair to the other side, and focused her performance to the other side of the stage. Her eyes scanned the seats that she expected to be filled and was thrilled to see that it is. A smile crossed her lovely face as she finished the song’s first lines.

A few instrumental of techno beating continued to play, with her sexy “kyuun kyuun kyuun kyuun”.

“kyuun kyuun kyuun kyuun
watashi no kare wa PAIROTTO
KIRARI hikatte kyuukouka
GOOtto fukashite kyuujyoushou
nagaku o ohiku hikokikumode
ookina HAATO ga kasanete futatsu
aoi aosora RABUSAIN”

“I love you, you love me?
dakedo karettara watashi yori
jibun no higokini onetsunano
kyuun kyuun kyuun kyuun
watashi no kare wa PAIROTTO”

She eyed the certain guy who sat between two women among the crowd. Giving one of her famous wink to him as one of Celestine’s holographic form approached him slowly while her body remains on the stage. The ghost-like form caressed his left cheek and retreated quick when the last lines of her song began to play again.

“I love you, you love me?
dakedo karettara watashi yori
jibun no higokini onetsunano
kyuun kyuun kyuun kyuun
watashi no kare wa PAIROTTO”

The music slowly ended with Celestine’s signature pose for last. As she turned around to face her audience she flipped her long blue pony tailed hair. The crowd gave another wild cheer, to show their love for the famous idol.

She went to the center stage and bowed her head in appreciation, She raised her head, sweat flowing down her face like precious pearls and yelled, “Deculture!!!”

The crowd cheered again upon hearing Celestine. “Thank you for coming everyone. I do hope you enjoyed the show!” she waved at her audience, the intensity of music overwhelmed everybody inside. “See you next Deculture!”

And with that, the lights went off and the Diva went back stage away from her fans.

NOTE: Celestine sang Ali Project's Watashi no Karewa Pairotto version... not Ranka's nor Minmay's version.

Macross 27 Colony Fleet Thread Empty
PostSubject: Re: Macross 27 Colony Fleet Thread   Macross 27 Colony Fleet Thread EmptySun 29 Jun 2008, 10:02 am

Phelan felt his skin crawl as he tried to sink deeper into his stadium seat, as Celestine’s hologram gently but spookily touched his cheek. Thankfully the hologram retreated quickly, and let him breathe normally again. Veronica and Kali looked at him quizzically for a second, before bursting out in uncontrolled laughter. Phelan felt like melting, and silently thought of ways of bringing an awful doom to the songstress.

Soon the concert was ended, with Celestine retiring to the backstage amid roaring cheers from her massive horde of fans. Phelan looked at the two girls and jerked his head towards the nearest exit. Still having trouble breathing because of giggling, Veronica and Kali followed slowly, supporting each other to keep them from stumbling in laughter.

On the way out, Phelan noticed that a lot of the fans – males mostly – were giving him angry looks. Probably miffed that Winters pulled that hologram stunt on me. Stupid prank. That girl is always doing stuff to get me into serious trouble. I’m really gonna have a talk with the Mayor about this stupid assignment.

The three managed to get out of the stadium after navigation thru the generally happy crowd. Holographic music vids of Celestine were playing in corridors, adding to the generally party atmosphere. There were shouting in directions – fangirls – who had probably caught sight of Celestine or some other star leaving the backstage.

“Shouldn’t you go and head over there?” Veronica whispered. “Shouldn’t you go pick-up your girlfriend? That’ll make a nice scene – beautiful and famous songstress escorted by a dashing and handsome ace Variable Fighter Pilot.”

Phelan wanted to make a retort, but decided against it. But he’d rather be caught dead than escort Celestine out of this mad crowd.

Well from the looks I’ve been getting from her male fans, I’ll probably be dead if I was seen with Winters anyway.

The three walked away from the stadium, when Phelan’s holophone chimed. He looked at his phone and found a message. “You two go back without me. I’ll head over to Nyan-Nyan’s – there’s someone I’ve gotta talk too.”

“Oh? Celestine’s heading over for a drink?” Veronica asked impishly. “I didn’t know she liked Nyan-Nyan.” The CIC officer yawned. “We’d like to join you two, but I’m really sleepy and we don’t wanna get in between a post-concert date between the concert star and her pairotto-boyfriend.”

“Ha-ha – very funny Ronnie. You wish,” Phelan turned towards the Akiba Line Station, waving his left hand as he walked away. “Good night you two.”

Phelan arrived at the Zentraedi Folmo Mall twenty minutes later. There were a lot of people – Humans, Micronized Zentraedi and full-sized Zentraedi, walking around the gigantic place, which dominated Island 3, even at this late of night. The mall was a twenty-four hour operation, and while a lot of the regular shops were closed for the day, most of the restaurants, bars and discos were open and lively. A lot of people looked like they came from Celestine’s Concert, and were heading over hear for some drinks and partying. Holograms cluttered the air, broadcasting everything from product advertisements, entertainment programs to current affairs news.

Macross-27 Colony Fleet arrives in Capricorn system. Mayor Britannia and Admiral Pryde to address the colonies…

Strategic Military Services to establish new office on City-27…

New holodrama – “Spring Galaxies” will air on Macross Broadcasting System starting tomorrow…

Seven Colored Carrots can help us win in wars! They’re good for both Zentraedi and Humans alike. Ninjin Loves You Yeah!

Nyan-Nyan, nyan-nyan, nihao-nyan. Gorgeous, delicious, DECULTURE!

Ranka Lee’s Seikan Hikou debuts on Macross Galactic Charts at number two but Galactic Fairy Songstress Sheryl Nome’s Diamond Crevasse stays at number one for seventeenth consecutive week. Celestial Diva Celestine Winters drops to number three for the first time in weeks…

Phelan sighed at the last holographic news. That’s gonna really make Winters pissed. And probably ruin my day as well.

The Excalibur pilot reached the twenty-fourth level, where the Nyan-Nyan restaurant was. He stepped inside the traditional themed Chinese resto, and scanned around. Like most of the establishments in the Folmo Mall, it was a split-level place, built for giant-sized Zentraedi, with floors, elevators and escalators for Micronized Zentraedi and Humans as well. The place was gigantic – enough to house two hundred GIANT Zentraedi customers, plus several hundred micronized customers as well. The cute Nyan-Nyan jingle, sung by Ranka Lee, was playing continuously in between songs in the in-house music of the restaurant.

Phelan found who he was looking for, and waved off the female waitress in the Chinese gown and headed off to one of the elevators. He reached the fourth level and navigated to the table in particular. Phelan took his seat right across the person he was looking for. “Hello there, Hayashi.”

The brown-haired, pulled-back and pony-tailed, good looking man looked at Phelan with amber-colored eyes behind round rimmed glasses. Hayashi smiled at Phelan, as he pushed forward the plate with a pair of tuna buns towards the pilot. “Try them – they’re Nyan-Nyan’s specialty.”

“I know,” Phelan said impatiently. “I’m not really hungry. Let’s get down to business shall we.”

Hayashi chuckled. “You’re in a hurry. Have a date with the blue-haired diva you’ve been going out with?”

Phelan sighed for the nth time that night. “Hayashi, of all the people who understands the music business and the military interfering with civilians, I thought you’d understand that what I’m doing around Winters is strictly professional. If I had the choice I would have dropped this stupid job.”

Hayashi held up his hand. “Relax, friend - just ribbing it in.” He pulled out a holodisc and slipped it towards Phelan. “There – that’s all the business we’re gonna talk about here.” Hayashi started attacking a bowl of noodles. “Now eat up your Tuna Buns. And order some kung-pao pork with seven colored carrot soup as well.”

“What’s this?” Phelan asked. The holodisc was plain, except for the label “Messiah” on it.

Hayashi shooked his head. “Better not look at it here – too many eyes to see. Suffice to say that you’ll find that very interesting. Interesting enough to probably make you break out into song.”

Phelan chuckled. “Yeah, right.” He called over a giant-Meltran waitress to order some kung pao pork with seven colored carrot soup.
